Week 5's plate was inspired by an article I saw by Gail Russakov in the latest issue of Somerset Studios (When Texture and Color Collide). I just loved the colors and different designs and textures in the project, and my mind automatically went to wondering how I could replicate it in ceramics. I decided to use every product and technique I could think of on one plate and see how they all worked together. The 5 stands for (obviously) the 5th plate in my series, and was inspired by my friend Alexa Westerfield's love for anything with fonts on it (Check out her two blogs...Font Crafts and the The Swell Life). Thank you both for the inspiration!
This plate was made using a little bit of practically every kind of low-fire glaze and underglaze that Duncan® manufactures. Included are Pure Brilliance® clear glaze, Crackles Glazes™, Crystals Glazes™, Concepts®, EZ Strokes®, Fired Snow, Artisan Glazes™, Designer Glazes®, Courtyard Glazes™, Envisions Glazes® and Cover Coats®.
Here's a closer look at the texture!
