I know I am going to regret trying to explain where this idea came from, but what the hey....I'll give it a shot. I was talking to a friend of mine about the summer back in the 80's when there was a bad gypsy moth infestation in NJ. It was really disgusting....the catepillars were crawling all over the place and you couldn't sit anywhere outside without one eventually crawling on you. I remember my dad would cut down the cocoons and burn them in the back yard, which subsequently stunk up the neighborhood. It turns out that my friend, who grew up in Maine, had the same exact problem the same exact summer and his dad did the same exact thing. So after exclaiming a few 'me too!'s' and 'so did mine!'s', we both said something like 'birds of a feather get infested by gypsy moths together'. I know, we are strange. But that's why we get along so well. I told him it would be my plate theme for this week.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to figure out how to make birds of a feather and gypsy moths look appealing on my project, so I decided to change it up a bit and make a gypsy bird instead. The quote apparently is something that Reba McEntire said, and fits perfectly...I know it's silly but this one will have special meaning to me.
