My dogs LOVE to go for rides in the car (well, what dog doesn't?). I recently went to a place called Sonora in California for my friend's wedding, and all I could think of the whole time I was there was how much the dogs would love to run around the area. I vowed to take them up there one day, and the time had come.
We drove for an hour and a half to get up there and then I looked for the perfect secluded spot to let them off leash to run around. We looked for HOURS and couldn't find a place! Everywhere we went was nothing but private property, and I certainly didn't want to get shot! I even ventured out on this extremely narrow and frightening one lane road that wrapped around the side of a mountain thinking that there had to be something. But I was wrong.
After dangling off the side of the mountain for what seemed like forever, I saw something in the distance. It was a very narrow, extremely small bridge in the middle of nowhere! I can't imagine it getting used very much and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little nervous to drive over it. As I got closer, I saw that it was covered in graffiti. It was everywhere...even on the ground! It was quite lovely, actually, especially the Cookie Monster looking dude. I didn't see anything offensive or gang related (not that I really know what gang related graffiti looks like), and it looked more artistic than anything. The bridge inspired this week's plate.
Just in case you were wondering what happened next, we drove around looking for a spot until it got dark, grabbed a Little Cesar's pizza for the ride home, then got lost. Eventually we made it back to Fresno and vowed to go back to our usual spot near Shaver Lake to go running around on next time.
Here are some pictures of the bridge...
